Adjusted building impact fee for education goes into effect Jan. 11, 2016
Beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, the new adjusted educational impact fees will be $5,856 for a mobile home, $8,045 for a multi-family dwelling, and $9,324 for a single-family home. Educational impact fees are imposed by local governments and paid by developers to address the increase in school facility infrastructure demands created by new development

Lake County’s Building Services Division is hosting two public workshops in August seeking to inform builders and contractors about the state’s new building codes. Florida Unclaimed Property Auction Comes to Jacksonville
This week, CFO Jeff Atwater and the Department of Financial Services will host the 2015 Florida Unclaimed Property Auction at the Jacksonville Marriott. Media opportunities begin today, July 30, with the delivery of an unclaimed property check to a local Jacksonville woman. The auction’s public preview will be held Friday, July 31, and the live auction will be held Saturday, August 1. The outside eastbound lane of East Columbus Drive is closed between North 29th and North 31st streets while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. Barricades and signs are located in the area to assist with traffic flow. Please use caution when traveling in the area

As part of the City of Tampa’s Downtown Utility Capital Improvement Projects (UCAP), the intersection of W. Fortune St. and N. Macinnes Place will be closed beginning June 23, 2015. UF/IFAS to host small-scale poultry farming workshop
The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is offering its popular two-hour long course “Chicken University” on Thursday, June 11 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares. Topics to be covered include poultry anatomy and biology, housing, egg production, predator protection and egg handling.
UF/IFAS Extension offers the Homeowner Education Landscape Program
Participants are required to attend all three classes, which will address frequently asked questions and problems in the home landscape. The series is being offered to give participants both classroom and hands-on training on how to calibrate a fertilizer spreader, install a micro-irrigation system, and select plant materials. Participants will receive micro-irrigation supplies and a Plant Selection and Landscape Design Guide.
