Broward County Celebrates Fair Housing Month

-Public invited to attend free annual Fair Housing Month celebration on Friday, April 5, 2013-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 21, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Broward County’s Human Rights Section, HOPE Inc. and Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division are sponsoring a Fair Housing Symposium “Rebuilding the American Dream” on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Signature Grand located at 6900 State Road 84, Davie. The purpose of the workshop is to educate the public on emerging issues and laws surrounding fair housing in Broward County.

The workshops will feature presentations by the National Association of Realtors’ Diversity and Community Outreach Programs, Florida Office of the Condominium Ombudsman, U.S. Housing and Urban Development, and Carras Community Investment, Inc.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Bernard LaFayette of the Freedom Rides, Selma Movement, Alabama Registration Movement, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the Chicago Freedom Movement and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Poor People’s Campaign.

Broward County residents, homeowner association representatives, housing providers, realtors, social workers and members of community organizations are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is required. This free event includes workshops and lunch.
