TALLAHASSEE – August 7, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater invites the public to Florida’s 2014 Unclaimed Property Auction at the Double Tree Airport Hotel in Orlando. The auction of more than 60,000 items valued in excess of $1 million will be held Saturday, August 9. A preview of items will be held on Friday, August 8.

Media opportunities begin tomorrow, August 7, with the delivery of a $40,000 unclaimed property check to a local Orlando resident. In addition to the events listed below, interview opportunities are available upon request.

The unclaimed property auction, which is open to the public, will feature bidding on jewelry, watches, rare coins and more. Auction items come from abandoned safety deposit boxes that have been turned over to the state of Florida as unclaimed property. When unable to identify the owner, items are auctioned off, with proceeds working to support Florida’s public education fund until claimed.
