Adjusted building impact fee for education goes into effect Jan. 11, 2016
TAVARES – December 16, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, the new adjusted educational impact fees will be $5,856 for a mobile home, $8,045 for a multi-family dwelling, and $9,324 for a single-family home. Educational impact fees are imposed by local governments and paid by developers to address the increase in school facility infrastructure demands created by new development.
The collection of impact fees is typically done during the issuance of the building permit, although individuals may pre-pay prior to submitting a building permit application.
An individual may pre-pay at the current rate of $2,537 for a mobile home, $4,636 for a multi-family dwelling, and $7,719 for a single-family home. Pre-payments will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016. If an individual does not pre-pay by 5 p.m. on Jan. 8, they will be required to pay the adjusted educational impact fee during the issuance of the building permit.
Pre-payments are valid for 12 months and are non-refundable.
On Sept. 29, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners approved the adoption of Ordinance No. 2015-40 which includes the increase of the educational impact fees for all residential construction within the county, both unincorporated and within municipalities.
