TAVARES, FL – September 15, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Lake County Property Appraiser’s Office will close its downtown Tavares office in the Lake County Historic Courthouse, located on the third floor of 317 W. Main St., on Friday, Sept. 18, as it moves its offices to its new quarters across the street at 320 W. Main St.
The Lake County Property Appraiser’s Office will reopen in its new building on Monday, Sept. 21. The office will be open Monday-Friday, excluding legal holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The two-story, 28,000-square-foot building at 320 W. Main St, Tavares, was completed this summer providing new space for the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser offices. The west side of the building houses the Tax Collector, which moved in last month, and the Property Appraiser will reside on the eastern half of the building. Features of the building include a vault for records, a common entryway, two stairwells, one elevator and two raised-floor server rooms.
The office building meets standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. A voluntary program, LEED provides a complete framework for assessing building performance and meeting sustainability goals. Based on well-founded scientific standards, LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
