Lake County Government welcomes new art exhibit to downtown Tavares administration building
TAVARES, FL – March 13, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Lake County is welcoming a “Southern Fried Fiber” art exhibit to the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares, beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The art exhibit will be available to view until Friday, Feb. 27, on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except legal holidays. The fiber art exhibit features artists from Florida/Georgia Studio Art Quilt Associates and Central Florida’s ArtsEtc Group.
The art exhibit will include 56 works that examine the phases of current fiber art trends, such as slightly twisted traditional and abstracted images in comic rendering, thread painting, rug hooking, dyeing, batiking, embellishing and fusing.
The art exhibit will feature works from 13 Florida artists and four Georgia artists: Sheri Mears Cooper of Bradenton, Fla., Pam Kettner of DeLand, Fla., Mary McBride of DeLand, Fla., Judy Gilmer of Edgewater, Fla., Barbara Watler of Hollywood, Fla., Nancy Billings of Miami, Marianne Williamson of Miami, Mary Jay McClave of Micanopy, Fla., Pat Kumicich of Naples, Fla., Janet Bernhard of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Bettijean Meyer of New Smyrna Beach, Lynda Ozgur of New Smyrna Beach, Maureen O’Doogan of Tallahassee, Jane Broaddus of Dahlonega, Ga., Robin Robboy of Decatur, Ga., Jan Girod of Marietta, Ga., and Beth Ann St. George of Newnan, Ga.
