WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — The 2016 Florida Fair Housing Summit: A Call to Advance Housing Rights and Opportunities registration is now open! The one-day event will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen Centre Hotel. You don’t want to miss this exciting opportunity to learn about the latest housing trends!

You can also participate in innovative workshops that focus on affirmatively furthering fair housing, community development, affordable housing, and the Community Reinvestment Act. The lunch keynote speaker will be Shanna Smith, president and CEO of the National Fair Housing Alliance. Continuing education credits will be available for realtors. Also, attorneys will be able to receive continuing legal education credits, pending approval from the Florida Bar.

The summit is held during Fair Housing Month. This is a time to commemorate the 1968 passage of the Fair Housing Act which prohibits discrimination in housing. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed this piece of legislation that gives equal access to housing for all. At the federal level, citizens cannot be discriminated against based on sex, race, color, national origin, religion, handicap and family status. Local ordinances may offer additional protection.

We look forward to seeing you in Orlando as we educate, engage and motivate. Register now for the 2016 Florida Fair Housing Summit on April 28. For more information about the event or to book your hotel room at the Rosen, log onto www.flfhsummit.com.
