Cheryl Howell, Housing Services Manager, receives Timex Award for public service dedication
TAVARES – October 23, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Cheryl Howell, Lake County Housing Services Manager, was recently given the Michael D. Smith Timex Award at the Florida Community Development Association’s Annual Conference for her dedication to improving access to housing, economic opportunities and public services.
Howell was honored during the Oct. 14 Lake County Board of County Commissioners meeting, where Chairman Jimmy Conner praised Howell for her service.
“I’ve seen firsthand how valuable Cheryl is to our organization,” said Chairman Conner.
The Florida Community Development Association’s Michael D. Smith Timex Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have significantly demonstrated a “tireless will to overcome adversity, as well as, outstanding leadership (and) motivation.” Recipients may be public or private entities that have led by example and/or, have motivated or supported others, unselfishly shared their time, expertise and resources for the betterment of the community.
This year alone, Howell has seen many of the projects she has dedicated her time and efforts to come to fruition, such as the openings of the Yalaha Community Center, Lifestream’s Hope Spring Villas and the Mispah/Simmons Apartments, as well as launching the county’s Mobility Ramp Program.
