TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – February 10, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — As a result of an inquiry by Attorney General Pam Bondi on behalf of Florida homeowners, D. R. Horton, Inc. is sending letters to approximately 18,000 Floridians notifying them that they have the option to receive their mineral rights. To qualify, a homeowner must have purchased the home from D. R. Horton and must still reside in the home.

“By my office contacting and working with D.R. Horton, homeowners now have the option to receive their mineral rights, and I encourage affected homeowners to complete the certification form they will receive by February 28,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.

D. R. Horton previously severed mineral rights from properties they sold in Florida, simultaneously conveying those rights to a subsidiary, DRH Energy, Inc. D. R. Horton recently agreed to cease its practice of reserving mineral rights until the Florida Legislature provides guidance on the issue of disclosures of mineral rights.
