Two-year extensions available for Lake County Growth Management’s building permits, development orders

TAVARES, FL – July 1, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — When Gov. Charlie Crist signed into law Senate Bill 1752 “Jobs for Florida” last month, not only did it provide tax incentives and tax breaks for qualified businesses, but it allowed developers and property owners to extend Lake County development orders that have an expiration date between Sept. 1, 2008, and Jan. 1, 2012, for two years. The extension applies to building permits, preliminary plat approvals, construction plan approvals and site plans.

Even if the permit or approval has expired, under Senate Bill 1752, it may be eligible for at least a two-year extension from the current expiration date if the current expiration date is between Sept. 1, 2008 and Jan. 1, 2012, and provided that certain statutory conditions are satisfied.

Permit holders wishing to extend an expiration date under Senate Bill 1752 must notify Lake County in writing by Dec. 31. The permit or development order being extended must be identified within the written notification to the County, and the permit holder must indicate the anticipated timeframe for acting on the extended permit or development order.

Written notifications can be submitted to the Lake County Department of Growth Management, ATTN: Director Amye King, AICP, P.O. Box 7800, 315 W. Main St., Tavares, FL 32778. Lake County will issue a written response confirming receipt of the notification and acknowledging the extension.
