Martinez Hosts Homeownership Preservation Forum for Residents In Manatee & Sarasota Counties
Representatives from Senator Martinez’s Office, government and non-profit housing counseling agencies, and lenders will assist homeowners facing foreclosure
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 22, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today announced a Homeownership Preservation Forum from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to be held at the Manatee Convention Center in Palmetto on Saturday, October 25th. The event is targeted at reaching homeowners facing foreclosure and helping them learn more about their options.
“Members of my staff, government agencies, and housing industry representatives will be in the area to assist residents and provide them with the resources they need to deal with the current housing crisis. Many hard-working Floridians have been hit by the crisis, especially in the Manatee and Sarasota areas, and we want to ensure those facing foreclosure have all the information they need,” Martinez said.
In August 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 916 foreclosures were filed in Manatee County and 1,031 foreclosures in Sarasota County. The Office of Senator Mel Martinez and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be providing a homeownership preservation forum to help homeowners struggling to make their mortgage payments find assistance. Non-profit housing counseling agencies, lenders and government agencies will be on hand to provide workshops and one-on-one assistance.
