WASHINGTON – September 12, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today announced the Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Veterans facility in Lake City will receive more than $2 million dollars for renovations. Senator Martinez was notified today by the Department of Veterans Affairs that the facility’s grant application has been approved with an award amount of $2,042,857. The grant funds will go toward the second renovation phase of the domiciliary home.

“These funds are part of our ongoing commitment to provide the best care possible for our nation’s veterans,” said Martinez. “The improvements to this veteran’s home in Lake City will help to ensure that the facility continues its mission of providing a comfortable place for those who have given so much of themselves to our county.”

The $2 million is being made available through the State Home program – a partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and states to construct, acquire, or renovate nursing home, domiciliary and/or adult day health care facilities. The grant award represents 65 percent of the estimated cost of construction. The state has guaranteed the balance of necessary funding.
