LEESBURG

December 28, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Lake-Sumter Community College (LSCC), in partnership with Lake County under the County’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) project, is offering a Community-Based Outreach Program for Lake County homeowners. This outreach project features an educational session for residents and homeowners, and is designed for presentation to homeowner associations, neighborhood groups, and other civic organizations as a means to promote actions property owners can take to reduce energy consumption and promote energy sustainability directly within their own homes.

Structured as an informative three-hour session, the presentation will acquaint participants with ways to audit their individual energy consumption with an eye toward saving money. Highly interactive in scope, the sessions will introduce specific areas where residents and homeowners can take direct action to reduce energy usage, including video-based illustrations of actions that are fairly simple to undertake to achieve savings. Where warranted, information on locating qualified contractor assistance for energy retrofit projects will be made available, along with helpful information on how and where to pursue the possibilities of financing for energy conservation projects.

Participants at the sessions will receive valuable educational material on energy-saving measures, along with information on how to audit their current levels of energy consumption. A variety of commonly-available, low-cost supplies to help reduce energy use will be exhibited and, while supplies last, participants will receive free “Do It Yourself” kits containing a small assortment of energy conservation-related materials.

A limited number of sessions are now being scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.
