Lake County Emergency Management keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Isaac

TAVARES – August 27, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — As Central Florida braces for Tropical Storm Isaac, the Lake County Public Safety Department, Emergency Management Division is closely monitoring the storm. Officials are urging Lake County residents to take the proper precautions to ensure the safety of their family, property and businesses.

Residents are advised to monitor their local news outlets and weather reports for the latest updates. The Emergency Management Division also recommends that residents prepare a disaster plan and a disaster supply kit. Disaster supply kits should include items such as:

• At least a five-day supply of bottled water
• Non-perishable food items and a manual can opener
• Flashlight and extra batteries
• Battery-operated radio
• Any essential medications
• First-aid kit

“We are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Isaac and we are prepared to take further action to ensure the safety of the public,” said Jerry Smith, Division Manager with the Lake County Emergency Management Division. “Preparation is critical, so we are urging residents to have a plan and to be as informed as possible.”

Based on current projections, Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to begin affecting Lake County in the early morning hours of Monday, Aug. 27 with periods of heavy rain and the possibility of high winds.
