Lake County Building Services to host workshops regarding building safety and codes

TAVARES – August 7, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Lake County’s Building Services Division is hosting two public workshops in August seeking to inform builders and contractors about the state’s new building codes.

The “Stucco Failure Workshop” will be held from 8-10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. The free event will be presented by Tom Miller, an engineer from Structural Engineering and Inspections Inc. The workshop will discuss stucco installation requirements under the new state code as of June 30, the consequences of improperly installed stucco, as well as installation procedures.

“Changes to 5th Edition Florida Building Codes,” a joint workshop with the Home Builders Association of Lake-Sumter, sponsored by Lansing Building Products and Aluminum Contractors Inc., will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. Check-in and breakfast begins at 8 a.m., and the class will begin by 8:30 a.m.

The workshop will be presented by John England, owner of England Training LLC., a company which trains over 3,000 contractors, architects, engineers and code officials in the U.S. and Caribbean annually. England has been involved in the construction industry for over 40 years, holds more than 30 certifications, and is one of fewer than 800 Master Code Officials in the world.

Up to seven Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for this course.
