Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) met today with members of the County Coalition for Responsible Management of Lake Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Estuaries, and Lake Worth Lagoon to discuss Florida water issues and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects.

“It was a pleasure meeting with members of the 16-county coalition and talking about the many pressing water issues in Florida,” said Rubio. “There are various steps the federal government needs to take to solve Florida’s water issues, and we need to work in partnership with state and local officials to make real and lasting progress. Last year, we were able to pass the landmark Central Everglades Planning Project, and this year we need to make sure it is funded along with the rehabilitation of the Herbert Hoover Dike. I remain committed to doing everything I can at the federal level to ensure our ecosystems remain healthy.”
