Kendrick Meek and the Housing Market: Main Street Must Prosper Again

WASHINGTON, DC – February 23, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Kendrick Meek today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s decision to use funding from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to support Florida homeowners and stabilize the housing market:

“Florida’s economic troubles originated in the housing market, and to move from recession to recovery, we must stabilize our underwater mortgages and devalued properties.  Main Street will prosper when our housing market is stabilized and returns to life.”

U.S. Rep. Kendrick B. Meek represents the 17th Congressional District of Florida which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. He serves as the lone Florida Democrat sitting on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
