Florida Realtor Magazine Wins Top Awards

ORLANDO, FL – September 9, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — Florida Realtor, the Business Magazine of Florida Real Estate and monthly trade publication of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), recently won 10 awards in the 2008 Florida Magazine Association’s (FMA) Charlie Awards competition.

This year, Florida Realtor won a Charlie Award, the competition’s top honor or gold standard, for Best Overall Magazine in the Trade/Technical category. This marks the third consecutive year that Florida Realtor has captured the Charlie Award for Best Overall Magazine in its category. The magazine also won a Silver Award for Best Special Theme or Show Issue in its category for the “Real Estate Solutions Guide.”

Under writing excellence, in its Trade/Technical category, the magazine won a Charlie Award for Best Feature, “The Upside of Lowball Offers,” that appeared in the December 2007 issue; a Silver Award for Best Service Feature for “Successful Short Sale Seminars,” April 2008; and a Bronze Award for Best Written Magazine. The magazine also won two Silver Awards for Best Column for “Technology & You,” and “Makeover” in a combined Association and Trade/Technical category.

Under design excellence, Florida Realtor received a Charlie Award in its Trade/Technical category for Best Illustration for the May 2007 feature, “Engaging Staging on a Budget”; a Silver Award for Best Feature Design for the article “Going Green,” October 2007 issue; and a Bronze Award for Best Overall Design.

“Our aim every month is to provide Florida Realtors with a magazine that gives them valuable information they can use to improve their business – one that helps them better serve their clients,” says Darla Furst, chairman of FAR’s Communications Committee for 2008 and a Sarasota Realtor. “But we are proud that Florida Realtor magazine has achieved the recognition it deserves with these awards. And it’s definitely a team effort: Our magazine works so well because of the input of our Realtor members.”

The Florida Magazine Association is the professional organization for the state’s publishing industry and represents more than 220 magazines in Florida. More than 920 entries were submitted for this year’s Charlie Awards contest from 70 publications produced in Florida. Awards were presented during FMA’s 2008 Publishing Conference & Expo, Aug. 21-23, at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando.
