City of Tampa Seeks Members for West Tampa CRA Community Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Tampa is seeking three (3) individuals to serve on the newly created West Tampa CRA Community Advisory Committee.

The purpose of Community Advisory Committees is to insure that the interests of residents, property owners, businesses and other stakeholders in the area are represented in key decisions. Community Advisory Committees provide input and make recommendations to City staff and the Community Redevelopment Agency concerning their respective areas.

Interested parties must live or work in the West Tampa community redevelopment area or have significant interests within the area. Individuals with a background or expertise in the redevelopment process, such as neighborhood planning, real estate development, or real estate finance are also being sought.

These positions are voluntary. Individuals appointed to Community Advisory Committees serve without compensation.

The West Tampa CRA Community Advisory Committee will have a total of 11 members: 3 “At Large” seats and 8 representatives nominated by various West Tampa organizations. All members are appointed by the City of Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency Board.

Anyone interested in applying is invited to attend an information session to learn about the roles and responsibilities of Community Advisory Committee members. Information sessions will be held on:

The application package is available beginning on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the City Clerk’s office, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., Third Floor. Applications are also available on the City of Tampa Community Redevelopment Areas web page: tampagov.net/CRA. Applications must be received in the City Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.

The Community Redevelopment Agency will appoint members to the Community Advisory Committees at their meeting on September 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers, Third Floor, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd. At that meeting, applicants may make brief presentations to the Community Redevelopment Agency concerning their background and qualifications.
