Housing Services offers mobility ramps for eligible households

-

TAVARES – July 28, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Lake County’s Housing Services Division, with the support of federal funding, is offering eligible citizens help with obtaining mobility ramps for their homes.

“These ramps are designed to help make homes more accessible for citizens with physical disabilities and provide greater mobility for handicapped people,” said Cheryl Howell, Lake County Housing Services Division Manager. “With the use of these ramps, people who face physical challenges can enjoy greater freedom and independence and lead a more active life.”

The Mobility Ramp Program uses Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to pay for mobility ramps for homeowners with a medical condition or disability that makes it difficult to navigate steps. To qualify, the property must be homesteaded and the family must meet certain income requirements.

Applications are available at Lake County Housing Services at 323 N. Sinclair Ave., Tavares, or online at https://www.lakecountyfl.gov/pdfs/Community_Services/cdbg/CDBGApplication.pdf.

The following documents will be required to apply:

• Valid Driver’s license
• Social Security card
• Two most recent pay stubs or benefits statements
• Six bank statements (all accounts showing any dividend, interest and/or annuity income)
• Latest tax return and W-2’s
• Child support documents and copy of divorce papers (if applicable)
• Updated property tax receipts
• Deed for property
