Unincorporated Lake County homeowners to soon begin receiving trash, recycling carts

-

TAVARES – July 24, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Lake County’s residential curbside garbage collection is changing on Monday, Oct. 6 for all unincorporated areas of the county. As part of the new program, households who currently receive collection services from the county will be given free county-issued trash and recycling carts between August and October. Below are the delivery dates by service area and hauler:

• Service Area 1/ WCA: Sept. 12 – Oct. 2
• Service Area 2 / Progressive: Aug. 1- 21
• Service Area 3 / Waste Pro: Aug. 22 – Sept. 11.

All residents will need to start using these carts beginning on Monday, Oct. 6.

The new household garbage and recycling carts are designed to easily be collected by automated collection vehicles. These vehicles use mechanical arms, operated by the driver in the cab of the truck, that grab, lift and empty the cart and return it to the ground.

Residents may change the sizes of their carts at no charge from Oct. 6, 2014 through April 1, 2015. Sizes available include 95-, 65- and 35-gallon containers. After, April 1, there will be a $40 delivery fee for cart exchanges; however, there will be no fee to change to a larger recycling cart.

Additional household garbage carts are available for a one-time fee of $60, plus a $40 delivery fee.

The delivery fee will be waived for residents who pick-up the additional cart from their hauler. An additional annual disposal cost will be levied on a homeowner’s TRIM notice (tax bill) for the additional cart.
