Attorney General Bondi Announces Deadline Extension for Florida Homeowners to Request Mineral Rights from Home Builder

-

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – March 13, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Attorney General Pam Bondi today announced that the deadline for eligible Florida homeowners to receive the mineral rights under their properties which were originally reserved by home builder D. R. Horton, Inc. at the time of sale has been extended. In January, D. R. Horton notified approximately 18,000 homeowners that they had the option to request their mineral rights by submitting forms by Feb. 28. However, only about 25-percent of eligible homeowners have responded, so the deadline has been extended to no later than March 31, 2014.

To qualify to receive the mineral rights, a homeowner must have purchased a home from D. R. Horton and must still reside in the home. Each homeowner who is interested in receiving the mineral rights under their home must complete the certification enclosed with the January letter and return it to D.R. Horton.
