Frankel Calls on House to Consider Bipartisan Senate Bill to Fix Flood Insurance Rate ‘Crisis’

-

Washington, DC – February 4, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Lois Frankel today called on the House to consider the bipartisan bill the Senate passed last week to delay flood insurance premium rate hikes by four years for homeowners.

Frankel joined colleagues in supporting a procedural vote that would have allowed Democrats to bring the Senate legislation to the floor. The measure failed.

Frankel made the following remarks on the House floor and to view her speech click here.

Mr. Speaker we have a crisis, a crisis in Florida and across this nation where constituents are facing skyrocketing jumps in flood insurance premiums making homeownership unaffordable.

Madame Speaker, floods are not partisan and homeownership makes communities safer, more secure and more economically vibrant. Madame Speaker, let’s fix this crisis now.
